Location: Brant Lake, NY

Elevation: 1,380ft

Distance: 1.3 miles round-trip

Trailhead:  The trailhead is located behind The Hub, Brant Lake's favorite bike shop and cafe. Parking is located next to The Hub.

Elevation: 2,440ft

Distance: 2.3 miles round-trip

Trailhead: Leave Lake Placid on Route 73 and head west, toward Keene. Continue through Keene and turn left on Route 9N toward Elizabethtown. Continue for about 2 miles to the top of the hill and park at the trailhead on the right — look for the DEC sign.

About:  Baxter Mountain is a 2.3 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Keene, New York that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, rock climbing, and bird watching

Elevation: 2,333ft

Distance: 4.3 miles round-trip

Trailhead: Buck Mountain can be hiked from the northern approach via Shelving Rock Road or the southern approach on Pilot Knob Road. Note the northern approach is 4.3 miles round-trip compared the the 7 mile round-trip hike from the south.  The AllTrails link attache

About:  Buck Mountain is a moderate hike on the east side of Lake George that features unparalleled views of the lake and mountains.

From the intersection of Route 28 & Route 30 in Blue Mtn Lake, head north on Routhe 30 and drive 0.6 mile to Maple Lodge Road. Make a left onto Maple Lodge Road, and take the foot trail to the trail head. Park off to the left side of the road. Trai

Elevation: 2,448ft

Distance: 3.4 miles round-trip

Trailhead:  

From the intersection of Route 28 & Route 30 in Blue Mtn Lake, head north on Routhe 30 and drive 0.6 mile to Maple Lodge Road. Make a left onto Maple Lodge Road, and take the foot trail to the trail head. Park off to the left side of the road. Trailhead is ahead on the right.

You'll see Minnowbrook Conference Center off to the left, on the lakeside. Hike along the private road and then turn right, entering the Forest Preserve.

About:  Castle Rock Trail is a 3.4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located overlooking Blue Mountain Lake that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching.

Location: Saranac Lake, NY

Elevation: 2,304ft

Distance: 3.4 miles round-trip

Trailhead: From Tupper Lake, take Route 3 east towards Saranac Lake. At the intersection of Route 30, 5.5 miles from downtown Tupper, turn north. Follow Route 30 west for 5.75 miles to Floodwood Road on the right – this is easy to drive by. Follow Floodwood Road for

Location: Saranac Lake, NY

Elevation: 2,304ft

Distance: 3.4 miles round-trip

Trailhead: From Tupper Lake, take Route 3 east towards Saranac Lake. At the intersection of Route 30, 5.5 miles from downtown Tupper, turn north. Follow Route 30 west for 5.75 miles to Floodwood Road on the right – this is easy to drive by. Follow Floodwood Road for 6.25 miles and watch for signs for Floodwood Mountain. There will be a turnoff on the left near the end with a sign that says "Floodwood Reservation".

From the gate you will be hiking along a forest road, where a bit of flooding often occurs due to beaver activity.  The road will split but don’t follow the left fork.

About:  With its moderate terrain and outstanding view, Floodwood Mountain is a great choice for a family outing.

Jay Mountain

Location: Jay, NY

Elevation: 3,600ft

Distance: 8.0 miles round trip (full ridge), 5.0 miles round-trip to the lookout. Only the Jay Mountain Lookout is required for this challenge as it promotes short, dog friendly hikes around the Adirondacks.  Hikers are more than welcome to do the whole ridge if they choose to.

Location: Jay, NY

Elevation: 3,600ft

Distance: 8.0 miles round trip (full ridge), 5.0 miles round-trip to the lookout. Only the Jay Mountain Lookout is required for this challenge as it promotes short, dog friendly hikes around the Adirondacks.  Hikers are more than welcome to do the whole ridge if they choose to. 

Trailhead:  The intersection of Jay Mountain Road and Upland Meadows Road, which is reached from Rt. 9N in Upper Jay by taking Trumbulls Rd. for 2.5 miles where it becomes Jay Mt. Rd., which is followed another 0.8 mi to Upland Meadows Rd. 

About: For fans of open ridge hiking, Jay Mountain is for you. Dubbed "The Highway in the Sky, this mountain provides east and west summits with endless views. The Jay Mountain lookout provides a 360 degree view of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain. After the lookout take the ridge the rest of the way for one of the most unique experiences the Adirondacks offer.

Location: Minerva, NY

Elevation: 2,352ft 

Distance: 5.5  miles round-trip

Trailhead:  This hike begins at the small parking area along 14th Road off NY 28N in Minerva about 0.2 miles after the pavement ends. The only marking at the parking area is a "Trail Parking" sign, however it is pretty obvious as you drive down the dirt road on the lef

About:  The trail to Moxham Mountain was constructed in the summer of 2012 and features many overlooks with scenic views, while the most spectacular views are from the 2418 foot summit.

Location: Lake Placid, NY

Elevation: 2,940ft

Distance: 4.4 miles round-trip

Trailhead:  South Meadows Trailhead. From the intersection of Route 86 and Route 73 in Lake Placid, follow Route 73 toward Keene. Continue for 4-miles to the Adirondack Loj Road on the right. Follow here for another four miles to Meadow Lane on the left. Follow here 

Location: Lake Placid, NY

Elevation: 2,940ft

Distance: 4.4 miles round-trip

Trailhead:  South Meadows Trailhead. From the intersection of Route 86 and Route 73 in Lake Placid, follow Route 73 toward Keene. Continue for 4-miles to the Adirondack Loj Road on the right. Follow here for another four miles to Meadow Lane on the left. Follow here for 0.25 miles to the trailhead on the left. 

About: Mt. Van Hoevenberg offers surreal views of the surrounding high peaks with minimal effort. The trail cuts around a small pond that can be filled with the croaks of nearby frogs and other wildlife.

Trailhead:   From the four-corner intersection in the village of Wilmington head north onto Bonnieview Road. Follow this to its end at Silver Lake Road. Take a left onto Silver Lake Road and continue for just under 6-miles to the trailhead on the right.

About:  Silver Lake Mountain is a great “bang for your buck” destination. This short trail is perfect for the entire family and offers some outstanding views out over Taylor Pond, Union Falls Pond, Silver Lake, Catamount and Whiteface Mountain's northern slopes. The trail to the top has several open views and rocky sections along the way.
